Electro-spraying, or electro-spinning is used to create very fine fibers or threads from a wide range of liquids. Typically, microfluidic fluid flows are aimed at an electrode some distance away, and the fluid is drawn out using a high voltage electric field.

Book Mention

Biomedical Applications of Electrospinning and Electrospraying This publication mentions SyringePumpPro as an example of the software that can be used to control syringe infusion pumps in Electrospinning and Electrospraying. SyringePumpPro has been used by a number of manufacturers of these devices and is sold all over the world.

Electro-spinning – High Voltage Protection

The above diagram shows a layout for electro-spinning or electro-spraying. More details about the pump to PC interface cables. Whilst I talk about electro-spinning in this post, my comments apply to electro-spraying too. Taylor cone - Wikipedia Electro-spinners use a very high voltage up to 50kV (at a low current) to attract a [...]

Electrospinning – take care!

This week, there's a sad story from a SyringePumpPro owner. He blew up his pump and computer - his high voltage setup wasn't best practice. What's Electro-spinning? Electro-spinning is a fascinating technology which I have personally had no experience with. It's all about nano-fibres and such - amazing technology. A syringe pump is used [...]
